Devin's first Thanksgiving went really well, considering he didn't even get to enjoy any of the delicious food! We went to Tye's stepdad's family's dinner first, then Tye's dad's family's dinner, then Tye's mom's family's dinner, and then finally my family's dinner. We also have Tye's dad's dinner tonight, which will make a grand total of 5 Thanksgiving dinners that we went to (and of course ate at) this year. Devin usually doesn't nap well at other people's houses, but we took the swaddle blanket with us and that helped tremendously--he napped for about an hour each time at two different houses. We were so glad he decided to take his usual naps because otherwise he would have been super-cranky! He really enjoyed meeting the extended family members that he hadn't met yet, and of course everyone loved seeing him. Tye and I barely even got to hold him yesterday because everyone else wanted a turn! We get to be with him all the time, though, so it's okay to let everyone else have their turn. :)
We are planning on putting up our Christmas tree today and we're really excited to see Devin's reaction to the lights and shiny ornaments. This Christmas he won't be able to destroy the tree, but next year we'll probably have to only put ornaments on the top half of the tree so he can't pull them all off! We are excited about his first Christmas this year, although he'll probably be more entertained by the crinkly shiny wrapping paper and bright lights than the gifts themselves...but that's okay! :)
